Reds handed huge fitness boost ahead of Wolves revenge mission
Liverpool are set to welcome Florian Wirtz back from injury for the FA Cup fifth round tie against Wolves on Friday night.
Wirtz has not featured for Liverpool since the 3-0 win over Brighton in the last round almost a month ago.
The German was due to start against Nottingham Forest the following week, but withdrew from the XI after not feeling 100 per cent in the warm-up.
Wirtz has subsequently missed Liverpool’s last three games, including the 2-1 loss at the hands of Wolves when the sides met in the Premier League on Tuesday.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Arne Slot delivered a positive update on the attacking midfielder.
"He trained half and half yesterday with the team,” Slot told reporters.
“What I mean with that is he was a 'joker', you say over here I think, so he made the next step in his rehab.
"So, let's see where he is today and if he then could be available for a few – a few – minutes tomorrow, in the best scenario."

With Wirtz likely to start on the bench, Dominik Szoboszlai is expected to continue in the No10 role behind Hugo Ekitike but there could be changes elsewhere.
Rio Ngumoha impressed off the bench on Tuesday and there are strong calls for the youngster to start ahead of either Cody Gakpo or Mohamed Salah.
Alisson Becker could be rested ahead of next week’s Champions League last-16 first-leg against Galatasaray, meaning Giorgi Mamardashvili may be handed his first start since the third round win over Barnsley.
Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson and Curtis Jones are pushing for starts, though a lack of central defensive options point to Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk continuing.
Predicted Liverpool XI: Mamardashvili; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Jones, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Ngumoha; Ekitike.
Injured: Isak, Leoni, Endo, Bradley
Time and date: 8pm GMT on Friday, March 6, 2026
Venue: Molineux Stadium
