Just over 24 hours after Liverpool confirmed a six-year contract extension for Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister’s father and agent has moved to quash rumours that his son is next in line for a new deal.
“There are no negotiations with Liverpool to renew the contract,” Carlos Mac Allister told WinWin.
La Liga giants Real Madrid have long been credited with an interest in the Argentine playmaker, while Manchester United have recently emerged as another potential suitor.
Mac Allister’s current contract runs until June 2028, but the lack of progress on an extension has cast doubt over his long-term future at Anfield.
With Gravenberch now tied down until 2032 and talks ongoing with Dominik Szoboszlai, the absence of a formal approach for Mac Allister may indicate a disconnect between the player’s expectations and Liverpool’s current priorities.
Gravenberch’s contract extension followed his resurgence under Arne Slot, and Mac Allister’s camp now appears to be signalling that they expect similar recognition from the club sooner rather than later.
Mac Allister is a cornerstone for the Reds, registering 24 starts in 29 league matches this season and contributing two goals and two assists.
However, the pressure is mounting on sporting director Richard Hughes to secure the future of one of Liverpool’s most valuable assets.
Hughes is under pressure to avoid a repeat of past contract sagas involving key players, most recently Trent Alexander-Arnold.
