Liverpool's new £55-million signing to undergo surgery

After a three-week deadlock, Rennes have announced that Jérémy Jacquet, Liverpool's upcoming summer signing, will undergo surgery on his left shoulder.

The young centre-back, who will join the Liverpool squad after the end of the season, sustained the injury on February 7th against Lens in Ligue 1.

The French media reports a recovery time of 2 to 3 months, and therefore, it is unlikely that the 20-year-old will feature for his current side again.

Liverpool's coaching staff is also closely monitoring Jacquet's recovery plan, with the Reds having invested an initial £55 million in his acquisition.

A youth international for France, Jacquet has played 21 matches for Rennes in the 2025/26 season.
