Lorenzo Pellegrini can yet depart Roma in January | OneFootball

Serie A side Roma saw Lorenzo Pellegrini score a winner against Lazio in what was his return to first-team football. Despite that, he can still depart the club in January.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that everything now hinges on Gian Piero Gasperini. The Italian wants Pellegrini to be fitter but is also a fan of his technical abilities. His plan is to use the midfielder deeper in midfield and use his ability on the ball in the best possible way.

But this doesn’t rule out a January exit. Roma have already told the midfielder that he will not be handed a new contract and the player has also previously expressed that the decision will be acceptable to him, if he finds the right move. The Italian’s emotions towards the Giallorossi made sure that he stayed and fought for his place but in January, he is now likely to leave.

His contract at Roma runs out in the summer of 2026 and a sale in the winter will hand the Giallorossi some funds and they will also free up some space in their wage budget.
