Lucas Beltrán has arrived in Alicante to begin pre-season with River Plate. The Argentine forward, who spent last season at Valencia CF on loan from Fiorentina, has joined the Núñez club’s training camp.

The club said in a statement that the striker has signed a loan running until 30 June 2027 with an obligation to buy, and that he will train in Alicante under Eduardo Coudet. This followed several days of talks with Fiorentina after Beltrán initially considered continuing his career in Europe.

River have agreed a 500,000 euro loan fee, plus a 6.7 million euro obligation to buy for 55% of his economic rights tied to attainable sporting objectives, taking the total to 7.2 million euros.

At 25, Beltrán returns to the club where he broke through. He scored 22 goals in 62 appearances for River between 2022 and 2023, a run that led to his move to Fiorentina and later a stint at Valencia CF.

With Valencia last season he played 30 matches, scoring three goals and supplying two assists. Two of those goals came in the Copa del Rey, the other in LaLiga against Atlético de Madrid. A knee injury curtailed his run-in, and he left Mestalla without further minutes before returning to Italy at the end of his loan.
