In the last 24 hours, Barcelona confirmed that Lamine Yamal has suffered a relapse of the discomfort he had a few weeks ago, and a result, he has been ruled out of this weekend’s match against Sevilla. Furthermore, he will also not be involved for Spain during the upcoming international break.
La Roja face Georgia and Bulgaria in their next two World Cup qualifiers, and initially, Lamine Yamal had retained his place in the squad named by head coach Luis de la Fuente – this went against the wishes of Barcelona, who had wanted their prized player to rest due to the recent discomfort he had.
But hours after the squad announcement, it was revealed that Lamine Yamal had suffered a recurrence, which will see him out of action for the next 2-3 weeks. And according to MD, de la Fuente was already aware of the issue prior to including the 18-year-old in his latest squad.

On Thursday, talks took place between Lamine Yamal and de la Fuente, with the latter aiming to understand the Barcelona star’s injury situation. He was notified of the injury, although he made it clear that he was obligated to include him in his Spain squad unless Barcelona issued a medical report.
Interestingly, it was noted that de la Fuente knew that Lamine Yamal was not going to be able to play for Barcelona against Sevilla, and even if the teenager joined up with the Spain squad for the upcoming qualifiers, the intention was for him not to play any minutes because of his injury situation.
Tensions were at an all-time high between Barcelona and the Spanish Football Federation last month in regards to the situation with Lamine Yamal, who returned to Catalonia with pubis discomfort after playing both September matches with La Roja. This is still present, albeit things have now calmed down slightly.
