Former Manchester United star Luis Nani has shared his candid thoughts on summer signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
Both Mbeumo and Cunha joined United during the summer transfer window after fantastic seasons with Brentford and Wolves, respectively.
Mbeumo struck a career-high 20 Premier League goals last term, while Cunha’s 15 goals helped Wolverhampton Wanderers survive the drop.
The duo arrived with huge expectations, and although they’ve shown encouraging signs, it is evident they have yet to reach their full stride.
Mbeumo has notched one goal and one assist so far this term. Cunha, on the other hand, has yet to open his goalscoring account for the Red Devils but has come close on several occasions.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Nani hinted that Mbeumo and Cunha might still be adjusting to the intense scrutiny and spotlight that comes with playing for a club like United.
The former Portugal international said, “I think they will bring a lot of good things. Like I said, to play for Man United is not the same as playing for any team.”
“There’s a lot of pressure, there’s a lot of history behind it.”
“These players, they’ve got quality, they’ve got power, we know they can do something. But they need time.”
“At the beginning of the season, you could see probably some stress, some pressure on top of them, some responsibility, you know.”
“But once they stabilise, they’ll do what they know.”
United are back in action on Sunday when they make their way to Anfield to take on Liverpool.
