The Hatters have some notable names among their fanbase

The last few years have been some of the most exciting for Luton Town fans as they made their long-awaited return to the Premier League, and they had some famous faces cheering them along.

Although their stay in the top flight was shortlived, it was an incredible journey to see Kenilworth Road hosting top-level football and the club will hope to return sooner rather than later.

Now back in the Championship, their well-known fans will be getting stuck right back into the Hatters revival.

The first name on this list comes from the world of football himself; England's former no.1 goalkeeper, David James.

The gloveman's support is not without a sprinkling of controversy, having begun his playing career with rivals Watford, but he has done plenty since his retirement to show his commitment to the Hatters.

That includes appearing at charity games and even coaching at the club for a period of time.

Alastair Cook

Switching over to cricket, the Hatters' next famous fan is Alastair Cook.

The former England captain retired from his sport at the end of last year and frequently heads to Kenilworth Road for his fix of footballing action.

He can often be found in the pages of local media discussing the Hatters' fortunes after attending games when he's away from his favourite sport.

It was also claimed, by the next man on this list, that the former batsman is a season-ticket holder at Kenilworth Road, with his father-in-law and the rest of their family being diehard Hatters fans.

Monty Panesar

Cook is not alone in cricketers heading to Kenilworth Road to take in some footballing action as he shares the hobby with fellow England Cricket star Monty Panesar.

The two were even photographed together at Wembley as Luton now famously earned promotion back into the Premier League in their Championship play-off final win against Coventry City on penalties.

Although Panesar admits to flirtations with Arsenal at a time when Luton reaching the top flight seemed like a pipe dream, he confirmed that he has only really ever loved one club, Luton.

The duo's support long pre-dates the Hatters' rise back to the Premier League, so they will undoubtedly be locked back in for this season as the club look to regain their top-flight status under manager Rob Edwards.

Eric Morecambe

The final name on this list sees us move away from the world of sport entirely to include Eric Morecambe, one-half of famed comedy duo Morecambe and Wise.

Their most famous body of work was the Morecambe & Wise Show, which ran from 1968 until 1977.

When away from cracking jokes on stage and screen, Morecambe used to be a regular follower of the Hatters before he sadly passed away in 1984. He was also, at one stage, a director at the club.

His memory and longstanding association with the Hatters is still celebrated today, with Kenilworth Road's largest hospitality suite named in memory of the comedy genius.
