Olympique Lyonnais are reportedly on the verge of finalising the signing of SM Caen’s Cluver Sambi Mbungu (17), according to L’Équipe.
Regarded as one of the top prospects at the Normandy club’s academy, the midfielder is expected to undergo his medical shortly, before signing a three-year contract, running until 2029, his first as a professional.
This is a fine coup for Les Gones, who managed to convince the Kinshasa-born player to join them, despite Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund also showing strong interest in securing Sambi Mbungu’s services.
Having made 19 appearances for Caen’s reserve team last season, the Congolese player found the back of the net three times during a campaign full of promise. Following Kaïl Boudache (19), Mads Bidstrup (25), Julien Duranville (20) and Mohamed Ouédraogo (23), Sambi Mbungu is set to become the fifth summer signing in what has been a busy transfer window for Les Rouge et Bleu.
