According to Le Progres, Lyon has prepared a policing plan for Saturday's PSG v Arsenal Champions League final in Budapest, with authorities wary after last year's disorder. Authorities are mindful of potential incidents whether PSG lose or even win.

In the Paris region, 8,000 police and gendarmes will be deployed, compared with 5,400 in 2025. The Budapest final has left Paris uneasy after trouble exactly a year ago following PSG's first Champions League title.

In Lyon last year, about 700 celebrating fans gathered at Bellecour and Terreaux. Around midnight, small groups of roughly 10 people vandalised and looted shops, damaged street furniture and targeted police. One officer was injured, and calm returned around four in the morning.

The Rhône prefecture has set out measures intended to prevent or deal with any disorder, and the prefect has called for vigilance, responsiveness and firmness.

Kick-off is at 18:00 this Saturday, not 21:00 as in previous seasons, so the match should finish around 20:00, or near 21:00 if extra time is required.
