Maghnes Akliouche and France have qualified for the 2026 World Cup!

The Monaco playmaker and the French national team secured their place at the 2026 World Cup on Thursday with a 4-0 victory over Ukraine at the Parc des Princes, on the penultimate day of European qualifying.
It’s official! Didier Deschamps’ team will be there next summer. Thanks to their victory in the penultimate round of European qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, France and Maghnes Akliouche secured their ticket for a 17th participation in the final phase of the most prestigious competition.
Drawn in Group D, the French national team didn’t falter. With four wins, one draw, and no losses, the 2018 World Champions finished comfortably in first place with 13 points before the final match in Azerbaijan. Behind them, Iceland (7 points) and Ukraine (7 points) will play a decisive match for second place in the final group game on Sunday, November 16.
Maghnes played a key role in securing qualification. Coming on as a substitute with more than twenty minutes remaining in the match against Ukraine, the Monaco playmaker made excellent use of his time on the pitch, notably providing the penultimate pass for Michael Olise’s goal (2-0, 76′).
