Inter Milan have received positive news ahead of the Derby della Madonnina as Federico Dimarco has rejoined his teammates in group training.
The 26-year-old sustained a muscular problem in the aftermath of the team’s draw against Monza last Sunday.
Therefore, the Italian remained at home while Simone Inzaghi’s squad traveled to England for a major Champions League showdown against Manchester City.
Carlos Augusto filled in for the Italian on the left wing. The coach had little choice, as Tajon Buchanan is also on the sidelines.
Nevertheless, Dimarco is reportedly edging towards a swift and timely recovery.
According to Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews, the Italy international resumed group training on Friday.
The former Parma and Hellas Verona man has apparently recovered from the muscle fatigue that only kept him out for a few days.
Therefore, the source believes the Italian will definitely receive a call-up for Sunday’s clash against AC Milan.
Moreover, the report tips Dimarco to immediately regain his starting berth, thus relegating Augusto to the bench.
This will be a major boost for Inzaghi considering the wingback’s importance to the cause.
As a lifelong Nerazzurri supporter, Dimarco would have loathed to miss the Derby against his beloved club’s arch-rivals.
So luckily for the player, he will be able to offer his contribution on the pitch after being forced to watch his teammates on television on Wednesday.
Dimarco has thus far started all four of Inter’s Serie A fixtures this season. He has yet to directly contribute to a goal.
