Mallorca boss Arrasate: ‘I haven’t seen a player like Barcelona star in a long time’ | OneFootball

RCD Mallorca head coach Jagoba Arrasate has moved to reveal his appreciation for a member of the midfield ranks at Barcelona.

This, of course, comes fresh off the meeting between the two sides on Tuesday.

Barcelona welcomed Mallorca to Catalunya’s capital yesterday evening, as part of the midweek round of fixtures in Spain’s top-flight.

When all was said and done, the former emerged on the right side of a 1-0 result, owing to a solitary 2nd-half strike on the part of Dani Olmo.

Post-match, though, it was not the name of Olmo which took its place centre stage in the headlines.

Instead, this spot was reserved for midfield partner and compatriot Pedri.

Spanish international Pedri was in nothing short of irresistible form against Mallorca, piecing together a complete performance on both sides of the ball.

As much culminated in deserved Man of the Match honours for the 22-year-old, keeping alive what has been a remarkable individual campaign to date.

And one individual on whom such excellence was not at all lost, is the aforementioned Jagoba Arrasate.

Speaking to the media on the back of his side’s defeat at Montjuïc, Mallorca’s headmaster could not hide his appreciation for Pedri’s talents:

“When you see Pedri, you analyze him and you enjoy from your TV. But then you see him against you and you want him to stop. I haven’t seen a midfielder like this in a long time.”
