Two former Serie A stars, Tijjani Reijnders and Riccardo Calafiori, could switch teams during the summer, but they are long-shot targets for the Italian clubs, primarily because of their giant evaluations.
According to Matteo Moretto (via Calciomercato), Manchester City will make the Dutchman available despite spending €55M, plus €15M potential bonuses, to snap him up from Milan last year. New coach Enzo Maresca favors more physical options in the midfield. He had an okay but not formidable first campaign in England. He registered 7 goals and 8 assists in 47 appearances, losing playing time in the final months.
Reijnders has been attached to Juventus, which are looking for some creativity, but Atletico Madrid are a lot closer to him, and his price tag is significant, which is also the case for Calafiori, who is on Real Madrid’s radar, Tuttomercatoweb reports.
Arsenal aren’t inclined to sell him. Only an offer close to €100M could maybe persuade them to change their mind. Los Merengues have already signed Ibrahima Konaté and Marc Cucurella in the back. They are now focusing on Ruben Dias and Alessandro Bastoni. The 24-year-old has piled up 4 goals and 5 assists in 65 matches since heading to London.
If Juventus were in their economic prime, they’d go out and acquire both without batting an eye, but those days are gone. The latter will likely stay where he is or move to another powerhouse in a massive deal. The former could perhaps be in play even for Serie A sides late if Manchester City didn’t find a suitable solution, grew desperate to make room and were open to letting him go for favorable conditions.
