Man City youngster Nico O’Reilly says it’s a “dream” of his to win the Premier League title after leading the side to victory over Newcastle United on Saturday night.
The 20-year-old full-back, who was playing in midfield again, scored a first-half brace either side of a Lewis Hall equaliser to secure a 2-1 win over the Magpies at home.
City are now just two points behind leaders Arsenal, who face Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby on Sunday.
“I’m over the moon with tonight,” O’Reilly told TNT Sports. “The win was the most important thing to close the gap and apply as much pressure as possible. Also, very happy with the two goals.”
He added: “It’s a dream of mine to win something like this. There’s still a lot of games to go. We need to take each game as it comes. I’m enjoying every moment and taking it all in.”
Arsenal are still favourites to win the Premier League title race, but O’Reilly fully believes Man City can overtake them in the table.
“Definitely. We always believe we can win games. We had a week break, so we were able to prepare for this game very well. We just need to keep going.”
Asked by the BBC if City are enjoying the title race, he responded: “We’re loving it, enjoying every moment. We had a week’s break and we used it to refuel and we have another one coming up [before facing Leeds United next Saturday].”
