Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor has provided a fitness update on his side set to face Everton in the Women's Super League (WSL) this Sunday.
City captain Alex Greenwood was substituted out of the UEFA Women's Champions League meeting with St Polten on Thursday night in the 30th minute. The England defender seemed to fall awkwardly on her knee and was removed from the ground on a stretcher.
"We're awaiting a scan which is taking place today, so we are just awaiting the results," Taylor said. "Hopefully she is ok because she's been really crucial to what we've done this season. Our thoughts are with Alex, and we're hoping it's a speedy one."
Despite losing their captain in the game's early stages, City powered home to a 2-0 victory over St Polten. The head coach piled on the praise for his side's resilience on the night.
"I have to give full credit to the girls, they've adapted and got the job done," said Taylor.
"We're having a tough time at the moment with injuries, but I don't see any kind of whinging about it at all from from anyone. It is what it is, we have to deal with it, and we'll be in a much better place. It gives an opportunity for us, we're adapting in the circumstances and still winning the game. So that's really impressive."

The injury woes don't stop there for the Cityzens as Taylor confirmed that star striker Khadija Shaw will be out until the new year with an injury to her lower leg that "just needs a bit more extensive investigation". The head coach confirmed that Shaw will be receiving scans in order to reveal the extent of the issue.
The City head coach also provided an update on Jill Roord, who didn't feature in the midweek clash with St Polten.
"There was an opportunity to use her last night and we really didn't want to. We didn't have to do it in the end, which is good for her," Taylor commented.
The 51-year-old gave the green light for Chloe Kelly, who will be available for Sunday's WSL meeting. "Chloe trained today and looked good," said Taylor. "If she comes through tomorrow unscathed then I think that's an option for us on the weekend as well."
