Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly monitored Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich closely over the past few months. However, a transfer for the player nearly materialized last summer.
In addition to Kimmich, Barcelona are said to be tracking Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah as they aim to bolster their midfield and defense ahead of the 2025 season.
Journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl recently reported that Bayern Munich have given up on persuading Kimmich to take a pay cut from his current €20 million annual salary.
With his contract set to expire next year and interest from major clubs growing, it appears unlikely that Kimmich will agree to reduced terms.

Football Insider reports that Manchester City are eyeing a surprise move for Kimmich from Bayern Munich during the winter transfer window.
At the same time, BILD has revealed that Real Madrid have begun initial talks with Kimmich regarding a potential summer transfer once his contract with Bayern expires.
The German outlet also noted in a separate report that Real Madrid see Kimmich as a potential successor to Toni Kroos. The 29-year-old German international is in the final year of his deal with Bayern and has yet to reach an agreement on a renewal despite ongoing negotiations.
Kimmich is said to be focused on staying at Bayern and recently met with club officials, but he has not made a final decision.
