The rumors surrounding a possible transfer of John Stones to FC Bayern have picked up speed recently, but now there is a first clear update on the current situation – and it is a clear one
The speculation was triggered by a report in the English Daily Mail, according to which the German record champions are seriously considering signing the England international
The conditions would have been perfect: Stones would be available on a free transfer, has enormous experience and knows Vincent Kompany very well from their time together at Manchester City
As Sky reporter Kerry Hau reports, however, there is „no truth“ to the current speculation
According to the report, FC Bayern are not currently planning to sign the 31-year-old
Although the Munich club are said to have looked at the defensive player’s profile in principle, there are no concrete transfer plans, according to Sky
Interestingly, according to the Daily Mail, Stones is said to have been actively offered to several clubs in recent weeks, with FC Bayern apparently one of the clubs to have expressed an interest, at least in principle
The player himself could also imagine a move abroad
Internally, however, the situation at the record champions seems to be clear at the moment. Before Bayern even think about new central defenders, there would first have to be movement among the current defensive players
Minjae Kim and Hiroki Ito in particular are still considered possible candidates for a departure. However, Munich are apparently not actively pushing for a sale at the moment. Both players basically feel comfortable in Munich
The only thing that is clear is that should an attractive offer arrive, Bayern would be willing to talk

Nevertheless, the possibility of a move for Stones in the future does not seem to be completely out of the question. Experienced, flexible defenders continue to be highly valued internally by Vincent Kompany
The positive experience with Eric Dier in particular has shown how valuable experienced defensive players can be in the Bayern squad, and Stones would fit this profile perfectly with his experience, intelligence and versatility
However, a transfer of the England international to Säbener Straße does not currently appear to be a concrete issue.
