City were well beaten in midweek Champions League shock
Pep Guardiola is expected to ring the changes again today as Manchester City return to Premier League action against Leeds.
Man City were stunned in midweek by Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, with the Bundesliga side running out 2-0 victors at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola tinkered with his starting XI against Kasper Hjulmund’s side, making 10 changes to rest key players and allow those on the fringes to impress.
That experiment ultimately backfired, with City slumping to a first loss in Europe this season.
That result means it’s two defeats on the bounce for Guardiola’s side since the international break and they will be out to make amends against a vulnerable Leeds side this afternoon.
Gianluigi Donnarumma will return between the sticks, while Matheus Nunes has been consistent at right-back and is in contention to replace Abdukodir Khusanov.
Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol have been the go-to centre-back pairing, with youngster Nico O’Reilly completing the defensive quartet.
Rodri remains sidelined with a hamstring issue, so Nico Gonzalez is expected to deputise in midfield once again, potentially alongside Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva.
Rayan Cherki was selected on the right flank in City’s win over Liverpool and defeat by Newcastle, and he should come straight back in alongside Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku.
Predicted Man City XI (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly; Silva, Nico, Foden; Cherki, Haaland, Doku
Injured: Rodri, Kovacic
Venue: Etihad Stadium
