City looking to put Champions League humbling behind them
Pep Guardiola has allayed any concerns over Erling Haaland’s fitness as Manchester City prepare to face West Ham this weekend.
Haaland has missed Man City’s wins over Leeds and Newcastle in recent weeks, but Guardiola confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday that the striker is fine.
Man City return Premier League title race seven points adrift of league leaders Arsenal after a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest saw City lose ground on the Gunners.
From an injury perspective, they are almost at full complement, minus long-term absentees Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol.
Rico Lewis is dealing with an ankle problem, and it will be touch and go whether he will be fit to feature in the squad here.
Guardiola may be tempted to make several changes after the humbling in Madrid, and he made one substitution at half time at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Tijjani Reijnders replacing Savinho.
Gianluigi Donnarumma conceded and saved a penalty from Vinicius Junior on Wednesday, and will start in goal once more here.
At right-back Abdukodir Khusanov was selected ahead of Matheus Nunes, although the Portuguese is expected to reclaim his place here.

In defence, Ruben Dias and Marc Guehi were pulled apart by Madrid’s fluid front three in midweek, and it will remain to be seen whether Guardiola will switch it up.
Nathan Ake, John Stones and Max Alleyne wait in the wings if so.
In midfield, Rodri and Bernardo Silva lost the battle against Aurelien Tchouameni and Thiago Pitarch, and Reijnders’ half-time introduction could see the Dutchman handed a start this weekend.
There could also be a place in the side for Omar Marmoush, should Erling Haaland either get a rest or Savinho drop out of the side, allowing Antoine Semenyo to slot back into a natural winger’s berth on the right, with Jeremy Doku, who was a threat in spells in Madrid, off the left.
Predicted Man City XI: Donnarumma; Nunes, Dias, Guehi, Ait-Nouri; Rodri; Semenyo, Bernardo, Reijnders, Doku; Haaland.
Injured: Kovacic, Gvardiol
Doubts: Lewis
