Pep Guardiola set to be boosted by inclusion of £20m signing for must-win game
Guehi was ineligible for Tuesday’s Champions League game against Bodo/Glimt but the £20million signing is expected to come into the team at the Etihad.
City have looked shaky at the back in recent weeks so his inclusion will be a major boost for Pep Guardiola.
Guehi is likely to play alongside Abdukodir Khusanov after Max Alleyne made two errors against Bodo/Glimt with Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol and John Stones all out injured.
Asked if Guehi can play, Guardiola said on Friday: “Yes. Really good [to have him].
“Considering the absence of central defenders it is really good. It will help us because Marc is exceptional.”
Matheus Nunes is a doubt due to a virus, while Savinho, Nico Gonzalez, Mateo Kovacic and Oscar Bobb remain sidelined.
Antoine Semenyo is set to return after he was ineligible against Bodo/Glimt.
He and Jeremy Doku could be the wing pairing as City aim to put pressure on Arsenal by ending a run of four Premier League games without a win.
Erling Haaland, who is without an open-play goal since the 3-0 win over West Ham before Christmas, will lead the line as he bids to end his barren run.
Bernardo Silva is set to return after he was suspended against Bodo/Glimt.
Guardiola hailed the “exceptional” contributions of Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nico O'Reilly in offering width in midweek.
Predicted Man City XI: Donnarumma; Ait-Nouri, Khusanov, Guehi, O’Reilly; Rodri, Silva; Semenyo, Cherki, Doku; Haaland.
Injured: Gonzalez, Dias, Gvardiol, Stones, Savinho, Bobb, Kovacic
Doubts: Nunes
