Manchester United have booked their place in a third consecutive Women's FA Cup final following their 2-0 win over Manchester City.
Scorers: Bizet 6', Clinton 22'
Marc Skinner's side are the current holders of the competition, having overcome Tottenham Hotspur 12 months ago, and they will now contest a rematch of the 2023 final against Chelsea at Wembley next month.
Celin Bizet opened the scoring after just six minutes at the Joie Stadium, having been picked out by a fantastic lofted ball from Ella Toone.
Grace Clinton then added a second before half-time, heading home a cross from Gabby George.
Matters then went from bad to worse for Nick Cushing’s side as Mary Fowler became the latest player to join their growing injury list, forced off on 25 minutes after she went down clutching her knee moments earlier.
City had their chances to mount a comeback as United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce produced an outrageous double save in the second half, first denying Yui Hasegawa’s free-kick before reacting quickly to stop Lily Murphy’s header on the rebound.
For all their possession, the hosts managed just four attempts on target across the 90 minutes, compared to United's seven, leaving no doubt over the deserved winner.
United will now face Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on May 18, after the London club secured their place in the final with a win over Liverpool on Saturday.
