Manchester United summer target Jonathan David has claimed that his preferred next destination is La Liga in Spain.

The Canadian forward is out of contract in the summer and it appears he will be a free agent, as he has announced that he won’t sign a new deal with his current team LOSC Lille.

The Red Devils have been linked to the striker as they need to fill a void at the top of the pitch, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee being far from prolific this season.

Players like Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap have all been linked to a move but David would provide a significantly cheaper option.

Nonetheless, while admitting he would be open to a move to England, it was stressed by the player that it was not his preference.

Appearing on Sky Sports’ The Overlap US, the 25 year old asserted he had the skillset to play in any league.

“To be honest, I think I can adapt to every league. Obviously, every league has their differences; I think the Premier League is a lot faster and more physical than the other leagues.”

Nonetheless, the forward then admitted that a move to Spain would be the most attractive option for him in the future.

“But, me, always when I grew up, I grew up watching a lot of La Liga. That would be my preferred league, but I think that’s the league I enjoyed watching the most, so I think – one day – I would like to play there but will that happen? I don’t know.”

Finally, he did not close the door to a potential move to England though and said, “I’m not opposed to anything, we’ll just see where the future takes us.”

The forward has been heavily linked to a move to FC Barcelona and was said to be in advanced negotiations with the club.

The Canadian has already bagged 23 goals and 10 assists this season and will certainly attract a lot of interest from Europe’s biggest teams in this summer market.
