Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has stepped up his bid to join Barcelona with his latest social media stunt.
Rashford does not have a future at United following his falling-out with head coach Ruben Amorim, shortly after the Portuguese tactician’s appointment as Erik ten Hag’s replacement.
Amorim constantly left Rashford out of his matchday squads, citing training and selection reasons. However, it always felt like there was more to the story, and there were suggestions that the pair had a heated exchange at the training ground, where Amorim accused Rashford of going out the night before. It’s alleged that Rashford denied these claims.
The attacker was loaned out to Aston Villa in January. He spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign with the Birmingham outfit and enjoyed an uptick in form. However, they elected not to exercise the £40m option to make his stay a permanent one.
Rashford has since gone back to United, although he was given extended time off to aid his search for a new club. However, he still opted to return earlier than expected in a bid to improve his fitness levels ahead of a possible summer transfer.
There’s been no shortage of suitors for Rashford, proving he still commands respect in the game despite his struggles at Old Trafford.
He has been linked to the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Como, Real Betis, Fenerbahce and Besiktas, just to mention a few teams.
However, Barcelona are believed to be his preferred transfer destination. The England international had his sights set on joining the Catalan giants in January, but they were unable to raise the funds required to finalise a move.
With Barcelona’s pursuits of Nico Williams and Luis Diaz now seemingly stalled, the La Liga giants have shifted their focus back to Rashford.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Hansi Flick has already approved a swoop for Rashford. There have even been claims that a meeting took place to explore the possibility of a transfer.
As this goes on, Rashford has provided another major hint that he has his heart set on joining the Blaugrana.
Rashford has now followed not just Barcelona on social media, but also players Pedri and Robert Lewandowski.
Pedri and Lewandowski are two of Barcelona’s key players, and Rashford following them on Instagram strongly hints that he already sees them as potential teammates.
Meanwhile, United remain adamant that they will not entertain a cut-price exit or a loan deal for Rashford. Only a permanent transfer will do, and at their valuation.
