Manchester United are reportedly keeping close tabs on Inter Milan left-back Federico Dimarco, who has been sensational this season.
While the Red Devils are expected to focus on strengthening their midfield department next summer, several reliable sources have tipped the club to bring in reinforcement on the left flank, either a full-back/wing-back, a winger, or potentially both.
According to Tuttosport (via FcInterNews), Dimarco has been identified as the perfect profile for this role, especially given his marvellous exploits this season.

While Dimarco has been considered one of the best players in his position for the past few years, he has truly taken his game to the next level under the guidance of Cristian Chivu this term.
Although the Italian’s role hasn’t drastically changed in Inter’s long-established 3-5-2 formation, he has been given more freedom to surge forward this season, and he’s been terrorising the opposition ever since.
This campaign, he has already scored five goals in Serie A, and more importantly, produced a whopping six assists.
As mentioned by The Italian Football Podcast co-hosts Carlo Garganese and Nima Tavallaey, the wing-back is closing in on the iconic Ronaldinho, who holds the record for the most assists in a single Serie A season with 18 during the 2009/10 campaign.
Therefore, the two journalists agree that Dimarco could be destined to be named the Italian top-flight’s MVP, at least if the Nerazzurri end up winning the Scudetto title.
While Man Utd are said to be ‘dreaming’ about signing Dimarco, the Turin-based newspaper also notes that it won’t be an easy mission, as Inter are keen to lock down the 28-year-old with a new contract. The Nerazzurri youth product’s current deal runs until June 2027, but the two parties could push back the deadline until 2029 or even 2030, dealing a blow to the Red Devils’ hopes.
Interestingly, United had signed a Serie A left-back with attacking prowess last year in the shape of Patrick Dorgu. But while the Dane had been showcasing massive improvement in the weeks that preceded his recent injury, Dimarco would be considered an upgrade on the 21-year-old, mainly in the attacking phase.

However, the Italian international might not necessarily be the most suitable profile to take over from Luke Shaw as a left-back in a four-man backline, as his defensive attributes are no match for his attacking skills.
