Manchester United are showing serious interest in Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils are looking to bolster their midfield this summer, and they have reportedly secured a deal for Atalanta BC midfielder Ederson.

In addition, Michael Carrick is also looking to bolster the attacking department, while signing a new left-back is also a priority for them.

Whether the club enters the market for a new central defender remains to be seen, but if they do, Kim Min-jae is firmly on their radar.

Kim Min-jae: Will the South Korean leave Bayern Munich?

The South Korea international endured a mixed 2025-26 campaign at Bayern Munich, making 19 Bundesliga starts and a further six appearances from the bench.

He also featured eight times in the Champions League, although started in only three of them.

Min-jae has slipped behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah in the pecking order, with the Belgian coach now viewing the 29-year-old primarily as a dependable squad option.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have previously been linked with the defender, but Manchester United have now emerged as another potential destination.

Christian Falk told exclusively to CFBayern Insider that the Red Devils could face competition from Serie A giants Juventus.

The Bild journalist said: “It is TRUE: Min-jae Kim is on the list at Manchester United. However, I heard that a deal is hotter with Juventus in Italy.

“That said, it’s not certain that the South Korea international will even leave Bayern Munich, as he’s enjoying his role at the club. Let’s see what happens with Juventus; then perhaps talks will open with United if things don’t work out with the Serie A outfit.”

Bayern Munich stance on Kim Min-jae

Despite speculation surrounding his future, Kim Min-jae remains content in Munich and is not actively pushing for a transfer.

The defender is understood to be comfortable with his current role and remains committed to contributing to the squad, even if he is no longer an automatic starter.

That said, Bayern could consider offers for either Min-jae or Hiroki Ito, particularly if strong performances at the 2026 World Cup help increase their market value.

Player sales could prove important as the Bundesliga champions look to generate funds for further investment in the squad, including the possibility of signing another central defender.

The South Korean remains under contract at Bayern until 2028, and CFBayern Insider previously revealed that the German champions could be open to negotiations if an offer worth between £26m and £34.5m arrives this summer.

For now, Juventus appear to be the most advanced suitor, but Manchester United’s interest is genuine and could yet develop should the Italian giants fail to strike an agreement.
