Manchester United are reportedly obsessed with Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who delivered the goods once more in El Clásico.

The 22-year-old is a Stade Rennais youth product who made his breakthrough at a young age before sealing a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2021.

But like many other top-notch stars, Camavinga remained on Man Utd’s watchlist, at least according to circulating reports.

Man United will to splash the cash for Eduardo Camavinga

According to Fichajes.net, the Red Devils continue to keep close tabs on the France international, as they prepare to launch a £70 million onslaught next summer.

Nevertheless, the Spanish portal admits that this figure might prove insufficient to convince Los Merengues, especially with the player establishing himself as a key figure in Xabi Alonso’s plans this season.

Even the Spaniard’s predecessor, Carlo Ancelotti, had praised the player for his ‘spectacular’ displays.

Moreover, Camavinga would also have to be convinced to leave the Spanish capital and deny himself the opportunity to challenge for the biggest honours on a yearly basis, in order to join a Man Utd squad that remains a work in progress.

The versatile star is tied to the Spanish giants with a contract valid until the summer of 2029.

Why Camavinga remains a distant dream for Man Utd

Camavinga is a well-rounded midfielder who can fill in various roles, and has even excelled as an emergency full-back in recent years. Therefore, there’s no denying that his signing would be an immense upgrade for United’s midfield department.

That being said, INEOS will likely have to settle for more realistic objectives, as Real Madrid are seldom tempted to sell for financial reasons, unless it involves players that are in the twilight of their careers, like Raphael Varane and Casemiro.

Therefore, Man Utd would be better off chasing the likes of Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton, as their clubs are more likely to do business than Los Blancos.
