Manchester United are expected to be without six players for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Brentford at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have had a poor start to the league campaign, picking up only eight points from the opening seven games.

The club are already six points behind the top four and must return to winning ways to stay alive in the Champions League pursuit.

United have received a triple injury boost ahead of the weekend with Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho back in training.

However, they are expected to be without six players for the encounter.

As per the club’s latest update, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire will be sidelined for a few weeks after picking up muscle injuries against Aston Villa earlier this month.

Mason Mount and Luke Shaw won’t be available with a knock and muscle injury. The English pair are ‘making steady progress in their rehabilitations’.

Tyrell Malacia has not played a game in 16 months due to a knee issue. He is unlikely to make the matchday squad, having only participated in the ‘first part of the group session’.

Leny Yoro is the other absentee from the squad. The Frenchman continues to make his recovery from a foot injury sustained against Arsenal during the pre-season tour.

United have had the worst possible start to the season, and manager Erik ten Hag is under pressure.

The club are winless in the last five outings. Their recent league record at Old Trafford has also been poor with back-to-back 3-0 losses to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

They have the opportunity to turn around their fortunes at the weekend, but it won’t be an easy task against the Bees, who have built a reputation for scoring early goals.

Mainoo is the biggest absentee from the Villa draw. If Manuel Ugarte is deemed unfit to start, Christian Eriksen could be accompanied by Casemiro in midfield.

Ugarte suffered a hamstring injury scare on Uruguay duty this week. The manager will issue an update on his fitness during today’s press conference.
