After a strong performance and a convincing 3-1 victory at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon, the Celts are back in action on Wednesday night at Celtic Park, with Dundee making the trip to Glasgow’s East End to take on the champions.

The match had initially been scheduled to be played on January 25, but stormy conditions across Scotland let to a postponement and tomorrow night, under the lights at Paradise, the Bhoys will look to re-establish a 13-point lead at the top of the SPFL table.

The conclusion of the January transfer window on Monday night saw Jeffrey Schlupp joining Celtic on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of the season.

And speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow’s match, Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers said that he’s excited to work with the Ghanaian internationalist over the next few months.

“His mentality will fit in with the culture here,” he said. “He came through at Leicester City and won the league there, he was multi-functional for them.

“He has incredible pace and power and at Crystal Palace, he played in central midfield and he played really well.

‘He offers great options for us in a couple of positions. He’s naturally left-sided and his physicality is really good.’

“He has Premier League physicality, running power and great experience.

“He’s really excited about being here and I’m looking forward to working with him over the next four months.”

The 3-1 victory over Motherwell on Sunday saw goals from Daizen Maeda, Adam Idah and Jota, with Maeda turning provider for Jota’s goal late in the second half.

And the Hoops boss was full of praise for the Japanese forward as he backed him to show his versatility in the forward areas as the season progresses.

Brendan Rodgers said: “I can see a lot of natural and instinctive striker movements that he has in how he plays the game.

“If you track back to when he came in, you’ll see his numbers from Yokohama when he was playing there as a striker.

'He’s a goalscorer who has done it in Japan and now you see him doing it here. He scored a header like Henrik Larsson the other day!'

“He might not be a traditional number nine, but how I ask my number nines to play, run and set the game quickly to create space for other players, I have absolutely no doubt that he can do that."

The champions last faced Dundee in mid-January at Dens Park, and despite taking the lead early in the match, it took a last-minute penalty strike from Arne Engels to salvage a point from the match for the Celts in a 3-3 draw.

And, ahead of tomorrow’s match at Celtic Park, the Hoops boss was keen to point out that the Bhoys will work to avoid the mistakes that were made at Dens Park a few weeks ago.

He added: “For 40 minutes we dominated the game and should have been two or three up at half-time.

“We conceded a poor goal and then we weren’t physically good enough in the second half. When we press well and are aggressive, then everything else is good in our game.

“So, the 3-3 draw was an easy game to analyse. We were soft in our defending, and I can absolutely guarantee that we won’t be that soft tomorrow.”
