  • Enzo Maresca and Manchester City have a three-game pre-season schedule in Asia this summer.
  • Confirmation of two further fixtures follows the announcement of a meeting with Inter Milan in Hong Kong.
  • City will then face a Community Shield clash with Arsenal to open their competitive English account on Sunday 16 August.

Incoming manager Enzo Maresca and Manchester City will have a further two fixtures in their pre-season tour schedule in Asia in early August, the club have announced.

The latest fixture announcements follows confirmation of Manchester City’s first pre-season game of the summer, as they gear up to face Italian champions Inter Milan on Saturday 1 August in Hong Kong.

That fixture is expected to be Maresca’s first game in charge of the club, succeeding a legendary decade overseen by Pep Guardiola, who left the Etihad Stadium at the end of last season with 20 trophies to his name over a 10-year period.

Manchester City continue to finalise a financial agreement with Chelsea to enable themselves to formally unveil the Italian as their new manager, with the 46-year-old the outstanding candidate to take on the position given his history with the club.

Now, as confirmed by Manchester City on Monday morning, the club will take on two additional fixtures in Seoul, South Korea as part of the 2026 pre-season tour, first taking on K-League All Stars at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Wednesday 5 August.

That meeting will then be followed by a clash against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid on Sunday 9 August at the same stadium, with both fixtures being part of the ‘2026 Coupang Play Series’.

Speaking as part of the announcement, City Football Group’s Senior Vice President of Partnerships, Peter Laundy said, “We’re delighted to confirm the final fixtures of Manchester City men’s pre-season tour and incredibly excited to be returning to Seoul – this time for two fixtures.

“We received such an exceptional welcome when we visited in 2023, with a sell-out crowd for our fixture against Atletico Madrid and thousands of fans attending our open training while we were in the city.

“We’re looking forward to an exciting rematch, connecting with our fans in Korea and spending more time in the country this year.”

What happens between now and pre-season?

Plenty is yet to still take place between Manchester City’s announcement and the start of their pre-season camp, none least than the outcome of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in North America, with a large share of the club’s first-team expected to be handed extended holidays.

Sporting director Hugo Viana is also remaining active in the transfer market as he undergoes an overview and analysis of the first-team squad, with the biggest piece of business expected to be the arrival of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City have already had two bids rejected, the second of which exceeded £120 million when factoring in bonuses, with any agreement likely to make the England international the most expensive British transfer of all-time.

Outgoings are also on the cards this summer, with doubts continue to linger over all of Tijjani Reijnders, Nico Gonzalez, Mateo Kovacic, Rodri, Nathan Ake, James Trafford, Omar Marmoush, and Savinho.
