The future of Austrian wonder-kid Johannes Moser has been detailed in new reports with the 17-year-old set to snub both Manchester City and Chelsea.
Both Premier League clubs are set to miss out on the signing of the teenager who impressed in the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar as he helped Austria reach the final, where they lost to Portugal – but he could have barely done more with eight goals and the Golden Boot.
Moser turns 18 in January and has emerged as one of the finest teenagers in mainland Europe with a repertoire of high-class dribbling and finishing that has earned him one goal and one assist in 13 league appearances for FC Liefering.
The attacker – who can play as a right-winger, left back or attacking midfielder – was one of the standout performers of the tournament and named runner-up for the Player of the Tournament award.
His talent has certainly not gone unnoticed as both Manchester City and Chelsea were aware of Moser prior to the tournament, with his performances in the Middle-East only enhancing the spotlight on his skills.
However, according to a new report from TEAMtalk, despite both Premier League sides having had conversations about the prospect of landing the Liefering attacker, the player is set to snub the pair with plans to move to FC Red Bull Salzburg instead.
Moser is currently part of the Red Bull organisation at his current club, who are Salzburg’s reserve team, and the Austrian Bundesliga side intend on tying down the attacker to a new long-term deal after he turns 18 in the New Year.
Nevertheless, Moser has still been subject to interest from elsewhere in Europe, with both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund keen to take him to Germany in an avenue that remains likely through RB Leipzig and the Red Bull portfolio.
Moser’s camp are said to have listened to offers that came in from both City and Chelsea, who made it clear how his future would map out as part of the City Football Group (CFG) or BlueCo, before the youngster ultimately opted to go down the RB network.
Moser would not become an instant starter in the first-team at the Etihad Stadium but the CFG has a progressive history of creating some of the world’s greatest and most prospective talents.
Phil Foden, Rico Lewis and Nico O’Reilly are only a handful of wonderkids to have emanated from the Manchester City Academy, staying at the club while growing from prodigies to professionals.
Equally, the likes of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rodgers and Jeremie Frimpong are products of the CFG youth system and all impressed at the club before departing to flourish even more, with the former in particular turning into one of the best in the Premier League at present.
