When looking at the attacking options in the Manchester City squad, there doesn’t seem to be any need for City to target another winger in the January transfer window. Savinho, Oscar Bobb, Jeremy Doku, Omar Marmoush, Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva when required can play on either wing. There is a blend of youth and experience in those options amongst Pep Guardiola’s squad. Despite this, a recent report has indicated that City are amongst a host of teams monitoring Bournemouth’s versatile attacking powerhouse Antoine Semenyo. On paper, there doesn’t seem to be any need for City to move for the Ghanaian international.
Lyall Thomas and Mark McAdam have reported for Sky Sports that Manchester City are among a host of clubs that are monitoring Bournemouth’s attacking star Antoine Semenyo. Furthermore, Thomas and McAdam report that Liverpool and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on Semenyo. As per the Sky Sports report, teams bidding for Semenyo in January cannot be ruled out. Lastly, contrary to speculation, Antoine Semenyo hasn’t requested to leave Bournemouth during the January transfer window.
Antoine Semenyo has blossomed as a player at Bournemouth and under Andoni Iraola’s management. The 25-year-old is now one of the top attacking players in the Premier League. His versatility, coupled with his pace, power, and technical ability makes him a powerhouse in the final third. So far this season Semenyo has scored 6 goals in 12 appearances in all competitions and he has also provided three assists. He is the third top-scorer in the Premier League behind Erling Haaland and Brentford striker Igor Thiago. It is easy to see why Semenyo’s impressive form has caught the eye of several clubs.
From a Manchester City point of view, there doesn’t seem to be a need for them to move for Semenyo in January. Jeremy Doku has taken his game to a new level this season. Omar Marmoush is set to play a key role for Pep Guardiola’s side now that he is back from injury. Rayan Cherki has made an impression since coming back from injury. Savinho and Oscar Bobb have also had their moments this season. Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva mainly play in midfield now, but they can take up a wide role if required. There just doesn’t seem to be room in Pep Guardiola’s squad for Antoine Semenyo as things stand right now.

Antoine Semenyo’s strong start to the season appears to have caught the eye of Manchester City and other clubs. But as of right now, it doesn’t seem likely that City will move for Semenyo given the plethora of attacking options in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
