In a recent report, Tuttosport revealed that Manchester City are dreaming of a move for Paris Saint-Germain keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in this summer transfer period. It has been stated that the Mancunian club are hoping to replace Ederson with the Italy international this off-season.
Donnarumma had a brilliant campaign at the French club as he helped them win the UEFA Champions League trophy earlier this summer. The Italian goalie participated in 47 matches for PSG last season, shipping in 43 goals and earning 17 clean sheets in multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old proved himself to be one of the best keepers in European football in the previous campaign. He was also excellent when distributing the ball from the back after completing 87.3% of his attempted passes in Ligue 1 (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Parc des Princes will expire in the summer of 2026. Hence, Man City could potentially sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.

Donnarumma is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make some important saves at the back for his team. Standing at 1.96m, he is a towering presence inside his penalty area and doesn’t hesitate to come out to collect crosses and loose balls when needed. Donnarumma is a tidy passer of the ball as well.
The Italian keeper has got a wealth of experience at the highest level. However, he would need some time to adjust to the physical nature and high intensity of the Premier League if Man City end up securing his services this summer.
Donnarumma would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Pep Guardiola’s starting XI. He might even help the Mancunian giants compete for some major honours over the next few years.
At 26, Donnarumma has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Man City to pursue in this summer transfer window. He would even serve as an ideal replacement for Ederson at the Mancunian club. All in all, Guardiola should focus on going all out to snap the Italy international up ahead of the new campaign.
