In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Manchester City are keeping tabs on Roma full-back Wesley. It has been stated that the Mancunian outfit are facing competition from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Real Madrid in the race to sign the Brazilian talent.
Wesley has managed to catch the eye at times with his performances on the right side of Roma’s defence in this campaign so far. The 22-year-old has scored four times and picked up two assists in 35 matches for the Italian side this season in multiple competitions.
The Brazilian talent is currently one of the most gifted full-backs in Serie A. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Man City to win the race for his services this summer.
His current contract at the Etihad Stadium will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for the Mancunian giants to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Wesley is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a good passer of the ball.
The Brazilian sensation can contribute by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team from the right-back position. Wesley is primarily a right-back but can also operate as a left-back if required. However, there are some question marks over whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if Man City manage to sign him later this year.
Wesley would undoubtedly enhance the quality and depth of Pep Guardiola’s squad. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team place at the Etihad Stadium in the coming years.
At 22, Wesley has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a great option for Man City to sign in the long run. Therefore, Guardiola should focus on stepping up his efforts to acquire the services of the Brazilian talent this summer.
