Glasgow City have confirmed the loan signing of Codie Thomas from Women’s Super League leaders Manchester City until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old has made four appearances for her parent club so far, including her debut in the UEFA Women’s Champions League against SKN St Pölten last season.
“I’m really excited to be here, go out there, get some minutes, and show everyone what I am about,” said Thomas in quotes shared with the media.
“The game in Scotland is really interesting, and every match is going to be tough. It’s a really good league to come into and to play in.”
City head coach Leanne Ross added: “We’re pleased to bring Codie to Glasgow City for the rest of the season.
“She is an energetic player who is composed on the ball and works hard out of possession, and has already gained senior experience in England and in the Champions League.
“As we enter a crucial period of the campaign, Codie’s arrival adds more competition and quality to the squad, and we look forward to seeing how she contributes during her time in Scotland.”
Glasgow City have made other additions to their squad in the last week, including loan signing Lydia Sallaway from Aston Villa, and permanent acquisition Emily Gray.
SWPL leaders Glasgow City play second-placed Celtic in the league this weekend. City are currently five points clear of their nearest rivals at the top of the table, although Celtic are currently on a five-match winning streak.
They face Stenhousemuir in the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup next weekend.
At the end of March, they will take on Rangers in the final of the Sky Sports Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup, having beaten Hibernian in the semi-final last weekend.
