Pep Guardiola and his players could be faced with yet another blow to their forward line options after one key star limped out of their 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

The latest development comes after a raft of injury problems have struck Guardiola’s options throughout the course of the campaign, with the latest in the forward line concerning Erling Haaland.

Following a clash with the advertisement hoardings in the FA Cup quarter-final win over Bournemouth in late March, the Norwegian forward was ruled out for up to seven weeks with an ankle problem that required further assessment in Barcelona.

As such, in fixtures against Leicester City and Manchester United, Guardiola has turned to a more fluid attacking formation led by Omar Marmoush in the former, and Kevin De Bruyne at Old Trafford.

But with plenty more mammoth games on the horizon in the absence of Haaland, matters may have been made worse with a new injury concern in the attacking line sustained during Sunday afternoon’s 0-0 draw against Manchester United.

As noted by those watching on, Manchester City’s Phil Foden limped off the Old Trafford pitch as manager Pep Guardiola brought on Jeremy Doku in an attempt to win the contest against their cross-town rivals.

The Athletic’s Sam Lee further noted after the contest that following an applause for the club’s travelling support at Manchester United, Foden also limped down the Old Trafford tunnel alongside teammates.

Pep Guardiola was unable to provide any further update on Foden’s injury concern during his post-match media duties at Old Trafford, and is next due to face reporters’ questions on Friday afternoon ahead of an early Saturday lunchtime meeting with Crystal Palace at home.

The meeting with Oliver Glasner’s side at the Etihad Stadium is one of four remaining matches across all competitions this month, including a trip to Wembley to take on Nottingham Forest in an FA Cup semi-final clash.

An away trip to Everton is further accompanied in the Premier League by a home clash with top-four chasing rivals Aston Villa, with a visit from relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers kicking off the final month of action this season.
