The Premier League have confirmed that Manchester City have accepted and apologised for nine instances of particular rule breaches during the 2024/25 season.
It follows a similar fine issued to the Etihad Stadium by Premier League bosses following the 2023/24 campaign, when City were handed a bill of £2.09 million for repeatedly coming out late for both the start of matches and after half-time.
Following that particular season, it was confirmed that City had also accepted they had breached Premier League rules 22 times “without good reason”, and the club went on to apologise at the time.
Having declined to comment to media outlets at the time, it appears as though while there was a slight improvement during the most-recent season, Manchester City had breached the Premier League rule on multiple occasions once again.
A Premier League statement issued on Thursday 19 June confirmed, “The Premier League and Manchester City FC have entered into a sanction agreement after the club accepted it had breached Premier League Rule L.33 in relation to kick-off and re-start obligations.
“The breaches occurred in nine Premier League matches during the 2024/25 season.
“Rules relating to kick-offs and re-starts help ensure the organisation of the competition is set at the highest possible professional standard and provides certainty to fans and participating clubs. It also ensures the broadcast of every Premier League match is kept to schedule. “
The Premier League have also provided a comprehensive breakdown of the delays caused by Manchester City to either the kick-off or re-start in the nine matches across the course of the 2024/25 season, alongside the fine issued by the division and accepted by the club.
