In a recent report, Sky Sports claimed that Manchester City keeper James Trafford is on the radar of Leeds United this off-season. It has been mentioned that the Whites are in talks with the Mancunian club over a potential deal for the English custodian this summer.

Trafford’s Lack Of Game Time In English Football

Trafford served as a solid understudy to Gianluigi Donnarumma at the Mancunian club in the previous campaign but failed to make himself a regular starter in their first XI. The 23-year-old shipped in 13 goals and kept eight clean sheets in 17 appearances for Man City last season in various competitions.

The English goalie is currently among the most talented keepers in his homeland. Hence, Man City could struggle to keep hold of him as they cannot afford to offer him a regular starting spot in their first team next season.

His current contract at the Etihad Stadium will run out in the summer of 2030. Hence, the Mancunian giants are under no immediate pressure to let him go in this ongoing transfer window.

Should Manchester City Boss Enzo Maresca Cash In On Trafford?

Trafford is a solid handler of the ball and can use his strong 1.92m frame to command his penalty area with authority and conviction. He can use his quick reflexes to make a few solid saves at the back for his team. Trafford is also not afraid to come out of his lines to clear the danger when being chased down by the opposition attackers.

The English sensation has already got some experience in the Premier League. Hence, he would be desperate to earn regular first-team football next season if he wants to improve as a footballer.

At the moment, Man City can afford to let Trafford leave as Gianluigi Donnarumma remains the club’s first-choice keeper. Thus, it is only fair to him if the Premier League outfit allow him to leave before the end of this transfer window.

At 23, Trafford has his peak years ahead of him and could have a great resale value in the future. Still, Man City should consider cashing in on him and using the money generated from his potential sale to bring in a suitable replacement in this transfer period.
