According to BBC UK, Manchester City have had more players at this summer's World Cup than any other Premier League team, with 16 involved in North America. That tally excludes Bernardo Silva and John Stones, who have left the club after their contracts expired.
Marc Guehi and Nico O'Reilly both started England's first knockout round win over DR Congo and should feature against Mexico in the last 16. Goalkeeper James Trafford is expected to be on the bench again.
Erling Haaland also progressed to the same round with Norway, setting up a high-profile tie with Brazil. The striker is in the Golden Boot race after five goals in three appearances.
Jeremy Doku helped Belgium overturn a 2-0 deficit to beat Senegal 3-2 in a World Cup knockout tie for the ages, and they face co-hosts United States on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rayan Cherki has had limited minutes for scintillating France, who meet Paraguay in the last 16 on Saturday.
Rodri captained Spain to a Thursday win over Austria. Ruben Dias and Matheus Nunes got the better of Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic as Portugal edged Croatia in the early hours of Friday. Later, Omar Marmoush should be in action for Egypt against Australia.
Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo will hope to lead his side past Colombia on Saturday. Only one from City's contingent went out in the groups, with Abdukhodir Khusanov and Uzbekistan finishing bottom without a point in their first World Cup.
Netherlands pair Tijjani Reijnders and Nathan Ake departed after a last-32 penalty shootout defeat by Morocco.
