In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Manchester City midfielder Rodri is open to joining Real Madrid this summer. It is understood that the Spanish talent is open to leaving the Mancunian club in favour of a move to join Los Blancos this off-season.

Rodri’s Impressive Form In English Football

Rodri has served as an important member of Pep Guardiola’s squad in this campaign so far. The Spanish midfield ace has made 28 appearances for the Premier League outfit this season, scoring two goals in the process across multiple competitions.

The 29-year-old has proven himself to be a winner at Man City over the past few years. Thus, it is no surprise that the Spaniard is looking for a fresh challenge back in his homeland.

His current deal at the Etihad Stadium will run out at the end of next season. Hence, Man City would be wise to cash in on him this summer or else risk losing him on a free transfer next year.

Can Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Afford To Lose Rodri?

Rodri is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when required and is a tidy passer as well. Rodri is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so.

The Spaniard has won a lot of major trophies during his time at Man City and has very little to prove for them in English football. Thus, it is only fair to the player if the Mancunian giants allow him to leave in search of a fresh challenge this summer.

Rodri remains a crucial member of Pep Guardiola’s match-day squad. However, Man City could benefit from replacing him with a younger option in the upcoming transfer window.

At 29, the Madrid-born midfielder is still playing in his prime and could perform at a high level on the field if he can stay away from injuries. All in all, Guardiola can afford to lose someone of his quality and skill set if he can find a suitable replacement later this year.
