Officials and talent spotters at Manchester City are ready to launch a swoop for one of English football’s most exciting rising talents, according to reports.

The Premier League champions are seemingly at the very forefront of youth recruitment at present, while also aiming to keep themselves ahead of the chasing pack when it comes to senior signings for their first-team roster.

An added focus on the next generation of young talent comes off the back of a remarkable spend from first-team officials during the January transfer window, when over £180 million was invested on four new arrivals for Pep Guardiola’s squad.

That also coincided with the signings of developmental talents such as Juma Bah from Real Valladolid, who was immediately sent on loan to RC Lens, as well as Christian McFarlane from New York City FC and integrated into the youth academy.

But despite attentions having turned to the Spanish and American games in recent months, it seems as though the latest pursuit could take place much closer to home as Manchester City look to raid one of their Premier League rivals for a star talent.

That is according to a new report from The Sun newspaper, who reveal that the reigning Premier League champions are ready to make a move for Leicester City’s 15-year-old wide attacking talent, Jeremy Monga.

Due to the age of the teenager talent, it is reported that any deal will have to go through a tribunal with Etihad Stadium bosses forced to pay compensation to the King Power club should they secure a deal for one of their brightest prospects.

Despite his age, Jeremy Monga has already been handed vital experiences ahead of his youth for both club and country, having been named captain of England’s Under-16 side and trained with Leicester’s Under-21s in recent times.

His exceptional performances at youth level have also been rewarded with a place in the Foxes’ first-team matchday squad, as Monga was named among the substitutes during their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford in the FA Cup.

So far in Premier League 2 action, the lightning winger has featured seven times for Leicester City’s most senior youth side this season, providing one goal and also offering a further assist to his name.
