Juventus could attract Manchester City transfer interest in the second-half of the ongoing January transfer window, according to reports from Italy.
The Premier League champions are currently in the process of a heavy refresh of their first-team squad having fallen significantly behind in the English top-flight and UEFA Champions League after results across November and December in particular.
Pep Guardiola recently admitted in a media conference that there had been plans for a squad refresh during the last summer market, but that he had personally blocked the idea given his content over his squad roster at the time.
However, it now appears that injury issues and performances on the field have forced Manchester City to bring summer 2025 plans forward, with work beginning on a squad refresh at the earliest opportunity in the new calendar year.
Alongside the imminent signings of Lens and Palmeiras centre-backs Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis, Manchester City are also pursuing an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for Egyptian international forward, Omar Marmoush.
Now, according to the information of Calciomercato, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, City’s desire to also sign Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso is ‘resounding from England’ and the Etihad side want to recruit the 24-year-old immediately.
Cambiaso himself has reportedly shown an interest in the move, although nothing concrete has happened and Manchester City have only asked for information at this stage, while Juventus would not consider any talks over a ‘normal offer’.
However, should Manchester City make a ‘monstrous proposal’, that stance would soften from the Old Lady, according to the report.
There is likely to be change in Manchester City’s full-back position this month, regardless of any pursuit of Cambiaso, given the signing of Vitor Reis who is known to be able to play in the right-back role as well as central defence.
Pep Guardiola also revealed over the course of the weekend that Kyle Walker is actively seeking a move away from the Etihad Stadium this month, with the 34-year-old keen to explore his options away from English football.
The Manchester City captain is attracting interest from Italian football most strongly, having seemingly snubbed the idea of a mid-season switch to Saudi Arabia, with both Milan clubs eager to explore a cut-price move for the veteran full-back.
