It is official, Carrick is staying on at Man United

Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as the permanent head coach.

Carrick returned to Old Trafford in January, taking over from Ruben Amorim, and signed a short-term contract until the end of the season.

Though, after overseeing a third-placed Premier League finish, recording wins over Arsenal, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Chelsea, as well as securing Champions League football, Carrick will continue as head coach until 2028.

Reacting to the appointment, Carrick sent a message to Man United supporters, vowing to ensure the side are challenging for major honours very soon.

“From the moment that I arrived here 20 years ago, I felt the magic of Manchester United,” Carrick said.

“Throughout the past five months, this group of players have shown they can reach the standards of resilience, togetherness and determination that we demand here.
