In a recent report, journalist Florian Pletteberg revealed that Manchester United are eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck. It has been stated that the Red Devils are eager to acquire the services of the German centre-back this summer.
Schlotterbeck has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Bundesliga club as he has put in a series of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 26-year-old has registered four goals and earned two assists in 30 matches for the German club this season across all competitions.
The German talent is currently among the best centre-backs in the Bundesliga. Hence, it makes sense for Man United to try and get him on board this summer.
His current contract at the Signal Iduna Park will expire at the end of next season, which could open the door for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap this summer.

Schlotterbeck is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.91m, the German sensation can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, only time will tell whether he can replicate his good form in the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to bring him on board in the summer transfer window.
We can expect Schlotterbeck to add more bite and steel to Man United boss Michael Carrick’s defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.
At 26, Schlotterbeck has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent signing for the Red Devils to pursue at the end of this campaign. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the high intensity of English football. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of signing him, so Carrick would be wise to step up his efforts to acquire his services later this year.
