In a recent report, journalist Fraser Fletcher revealed that Manchester United are locked in a three-way battle for Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven. It is believed that the Red Devils would have to rival Liverpool and Real Madrid in the race to sign the Dutch centre-back.
Van de Ven is having a solid campaign at the North London club as he has produced a handful of impressive performances for them in the Premier League. The Dutch sensation has participated in 33 matches for Tottenham this season, scoring seven times and earning one assist in all competitions.
The 24-year-old is currently among the best centre-backs in the Premier League. Therefore, Man United would do well to lure him to Old Trafford this off-season.
His current contract at the North London club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for the Red Devils to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Van de Ven is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.
The Dutch talent has got the pace to make some important recovering runs inside his half. Standing at 1.93m, he is a strong presence in the air as well and has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League.
We can expect van de Ven to bring a lot of quality to Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s defence. He is more than capable of nailing down a regular starting spot at Old Trafford.
At 24, Van de Ven has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent option for the Mancunian giants to consider at the end of this campaign. He will also help the Red Devils compete for some major honours over the next few years. Thus, it makes sense for Carrick to try everything in his power to sign van de Ven this summer.
