In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Manchester United are showing interest in Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand. It has been stated that the Red Devils would have to compete with Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus in the race to land the Danish talent next year.

Hjulmand’s Impressive Form In Portuguese Football

Hjulmand has made a great start to this campaign as he has put in a handful of solid displays for the Portuguese club at the centre of the park. The 26-year-old has played in 11 matches for Sporting this season, finding the back of the net once in multiple competitions.

The Danish midfield ace has anchored the midfield with conviction and deserves credit for making 18 tackles, five blocks, six interceptions and five clearances in Liga Portugal. He was even accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates after completing 90.6% of his attempted passes in the Portuguese top flight (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Sporting will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap next year.

What Will Hjulmand Add To Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim’s Side?

Hjulmand loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.

The Danish sensation is a tidy passer of the ball as well and can chip in by scoring the odd goal going forward. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Man United manage to bring him on board next year.

We can expect Hjulmand to add more quality to Ruben Amorim’s midfield. He is good enough to serve as an ideal replacement for Casemiro, who has struggled to be consistent for the Red Devils this season.

At 26, Hjulmand has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a good option for the Mancunian giants to consider this winter or at the end of this campaign. However, Amorim needs to give him some time before he can unlock the best out of the talented midfielder at Old Trafford.
