Manchester United will only consider selling Kobbie Mainoo in the winter transfer window if they receive an exceptional offer.
The 20-year-old’s future has been a big talking point at Old Trafford in recent weeks.
His brother caused a stir on Monday night by wearing a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ t-shirt at Old Trafford during the match against Bournemouth.
The youngster has been struggling for opportunities under Amorim, who hasn’t started him once in the Premier League this season.
Mainoo could push for a move away from United this winter as he will be desperate for more first-team action to secure a place in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
According to Sky Sports, the Red Devils do not want to sell the talented midfielder and are also not interested in sending him on loan.
However, they could be open to a sale if a club makes an exceptional offer.
Mainoo is a generational talent who is highly rated for his technique, intelligence and maturity well beyond his years.
He was a key member of the first-team last season, featuring in 36 matches across all competitions and scoring two goals.
But he has been on the fringes of the squad this campaign under Amorim, who views him as a number eight, which is a position currently monopolised by Bruno Fernandes.
The former Sporting Lisbon boss has hinted that Mainoo lacks the positional discipline to excel as a holding midfielder.
