Manchester United wrapped up their pre-season with a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina at Old Trafford, before edging a 5-4 victory on penalties.
On the morning of the match, United confirmed the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for a fee that could rise to £73.7m.
He was introduced to the fans on the pitch alongside fellow new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who both started for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Fiorentina got off to a flying start thanks to Simon Sohm, who teamed up nicely with Albert Gudmundsson to open the scoring, giving Stefano Pioli’s men the perfect beginning.
Ruben Amorim’s team fought back when a messy Bruno Fernandes corner resulted in an own goal by Robin Gosens.
However, the Red Devils couldn’t find a winner in the second half, leading to a penalty shootout that didn’t really matter much in the grand scheme.
Altay Bayindir was the hero in the shootout, saving Fiorentina’s fifth penalty, and Kobbie Mainoo calmly slotted home the decisive spot-kick to give United the 5-4 win.
