Manchester United has decided Marcus Rashford's fate

Manchester United has decided what to do with Marcus Rashford
Marcus Rashford is experiencing an unexpected renaissance in Catalonia. Having arrived on loan last summer, the English forward has immediately established himself as a key figure in Hansi Flick’s squad. Deployed alternately on the left, through the middle, or even on the right of the attack, he has already featured in all 16 of Barça’s matches this season, notching up 6 goals and 9 assists. It's an impact reminiscent of his best years, inevitably prompting the Catalan club to consider making his stay permanent.
The problem? Barça’s ambitions outstrip their means. The purchase option, set between €30 and €35 million, would normally be attainable, but the Blaugrana’s ever-precarious finances make the operation trickier than it appears. Especially as an unexpected scenario is taking shape: that of Rashford returning to Manchester United next summer.
Asked internally about this possibility, Ruben Amorim has already made his decision. According to Sport, neither the Portuguese manager nor the Manchester United board wish to reintegrate Marcus Rashford into the Manchester United squad for next season. The player’s cycle at Old Trafford appears to be considered over, despite his resurgence in Spain.
This stance could prove a real opportunity for Barcelona. Especially since the player himself has already made his intentions clear: he “is very happy at the club and in the city and wants nothing more than to stay at Spotify Camp Nou”, according to Catalan media.
The crucial question remains: how to finance the move? If Barça cannot trigger the buyout clause, a negotiated transfer at a lower fee could be explored. But there’s no guarantee that other clubs, drawn by his revitalized form, won’t complicate matters.
One thing is certain: Rashford has sent a strong signal. And his future could become one of the hottest stories of the 2026 summer transfer window.
