In a recent report, ESPN claimed that Manchester United have set their sights on Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to bring the English talent to Old Trafford in this summer transfer window.

Wharton’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Wharton enjoyed a solid campaign at Selhurst Park recently as he was responsible for producing a string of impressive displays at the heart of Crystal Palace‘s midfield. The 21-year-old secured a couple of assists in 27 matches for the Eagles last season across all competitions.

The English midfield ace gave a good account of himself at the centre of the park and did well to complete 75.6% of his attempted passes in the Premier League (stats via fbref.com).

Wharton is under contract at the London club until the summer of 2029. Thus, Man United would have to launch a convincing offer if they want to recruit the talented midfielder this off-season.

Will Wharton Be A Good Choice For Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim?

Wharton is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The English sensation can even create the odd chance for his teammates in the opponent’s half. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder or play in the number ten position if required.

We can expect Wharton to add more bite and steel to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s midfield. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford in the coming seasons.

At 21, Wharton has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Therefore, he would be a great choice for the Red Devils to pursue in this summer transfer period. Wharton already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Mancunian club if Amorim can devise a way to bring him on board soon.
